Recently, I have lost a total of 25 pounds, since I started on the Keto diet in the middle of June. It was right after, I mean right after, I retired from teaching! One of the foods I consume every day is chicken bone broth. Since the cost is rather expensive when one buys Organic Chicken Bone Broth (reduced sodium) from Sam’s Club, my husband tried to save a little money by mixing in Organic Chicken Broth Concentrate from Kitchen Accomplice.
Well, it was a BIG mistake! The chicken broth concentrate from Kitchen Accomplice has maltodextrin in it. When one does their homework, one finds out that this ingredient contains 25 percent Monosodium Glutamate or MSG.
Now, we’ve learned that just because a product states organic, means very little. One has to carefully read the list of ingredients and when one doesn’t know something, look it up! MSG is a neurotoxin designed to stimulate a consumer’s taste buds making him/her want to eat more! So, someone on a diet, like the Keto diet, doesn’t need this kind of stimulation!
MSG is being linked to health conditions such as multiple sclerosis, hormonal problems, hearing loss, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Lou Gehrigs disease, Parkinson’s disease, hypoglycemia and other related illnesses.
So, my advice is to be careful in what one buys! Just because a product says ‘organic’ doesn’ t mean a thing!
