As I was completing my walking adventure yesterday, the cell phone I keep in my pocket was ringing. I checked to see if it was a family member calling me and it wasn’t. Whoever it was had left a voice message. Imagine my surprise when I hear this deep, male voice telling me that I had committed fraud of my income tax form.
I thought for a moment, is that possible? No way! I had to write the IRS a check this year, because I didn’t pay enough.
I went online and discovered that the phone number had been reported as a scam. (817-376-9769)
That’s not the only scam I became aware of during the week. I had received an email about becoming a secret shopper for Walmart. Hey, that sounded great! Since I’m retired, becoming a secret shopper at Walmart would provide some additional income. Of course, there’s no such thing. Another scam! I’m glad I didn’t reply to the email, since it is a mirror copy of the Walmart online site.
