She wished she had known about our hair cycle; especially before she turned 40. As a 60-year-old, Mom missed 20 years and she can’t get that time back. Time, in which, she might have prevented the hair she had lost. Well, here’s what Mom discovered about our hair cycle. There are two major phases our hair goes through; the anagen and the telogen. During the anagen phase, the hair is actively growing. As our hair matures, it enters into a resting stage, the telogen phase. Then the hair bulb migrates outward and eventually is sloughed off. It is during this migratory phase that the stage is set for new hair to come in after the original hair is lost. Age, various diseases, and a wide variety of nutritional and hormonal factors influence the duration of our hair cycle.
Unfortunately, hair loss is a normal part of the aging process which usually begins by age 40. The rate of hair growth begins to slow down and new hairs are not replaced as quickly as old ones are lost. There is a hair pull test one can do to determine if one’s hair is more into the telogen phase than the anagen phase. This test is very simple for all one needs to do it take a few strands between the thumb and forefinger and pull gently. Hairs in the anagen phase remained rooted in place, while hairs in the telogen phase come out easily.
It’s important to know approximately how many hairs were pulled and the number that came out can indicate the percentage of hair follicles in a telogen state. For example, if 20 hairs were pulled and 2 came out, then the frequency of telogen hair follicles is 10 percent. As a rough guide, a 10 percent telogen frequency is excellent, up to 25 percent is typical, and over 35 percent is problematic.
Several months ago before Mom started using MONAT’s hair care products, especially its nutritional supplement for natural hair care growth, strands of her hair were easy to pull out. But, not now. After Mom completed this hair pull test, not one strand fell out. Her hair strands are stronger and have a different texture.
Well, I’m glad I’m starting early when it comes to my hair. It will be awhile before I turn 40 and I certainly don’t want to experience hair loss like Mom! So, I’m thankful for MONAT’s hair care products and supplements.
Imagine my excitement when I learned from Emilie, my trainer, about MONAT GLOBAL offering shares of stock as reward incentives for selling MONAT as a Market Partner. Well, I couldn't wait to tell everyone on my Facebook Channel. This LIVE video was scheduled was first scheduled on Sunday and then we had to cancel and reschedule for Monday, April 8th. At first, I had trouble getting started and then it FROZE. My voice could be heard, but that's all! Eventually, I move to another location before Emilie joined me!

I was a bit nervous walking into a local Salon Store using my smartphone to videotape. I picked up two different products and made a comment about the labeled ingredients. Well, I feel comfortable with releasing my short video online and looked forward in doing more of these short videos about hair care products.
Mom plans to create a video every month to show her progress in using the recommended shampoo, conditioner, oil treatment and supplements I had recommended for her.
At the time of writing this article, Mom has been using the shampoo products and supplements for two weeks. She washes her hair every other day. Before washing, she uses the Rejuv oil. At first, she had trouble understanding how to use the dropper. She discovered it was quite simple. All one needs to do is press down on the top of the dropper, while it remains inside the bottle. Then, pull it out and apply the drops to one’s scalp. For myself, I only need a little and I use it at night. For Mom, she uses it in the morning as part of her hair care ritual. She applies drops to several thinning areas on her scalp. Next, she uses her fingers to massage it in. She lets the oil stay on her scalp for fifteen minutes before washing her hair.
Mom uses the product, “Black Shampoo.” She learned, as I had advised her, that she only needs about a dime’s worth. The first thing she told me about this shampoo was how rich it was in suds. She leaves it on her hair for three minutes, rinses, and washes her hair again. After rinsing her hair the second time, she applies the conditioner and leaves it on for about a minute.
Mom claims that her hair feels like silk. She’s never had her hair ever feel like that! But, what she really wants is to see is more hair! Will she? Only time will tell! Mom made four videos. I’ve posted the links below:
I decided to make another video about hair outside my duplex. It was such a beautiful day that I couldn't help myself. Check it out...https://www.facebook.com/kelley.oberne/videos/10156142024786918/
My mother started taking a daily herbal supplement for hair containing a special proprietary blend. She figured ‘why not!’ She knew that herbal supplements can take an average of four months before noticing a difference. She is a strong believer in this, since it took four months for her to notice a change in my brother’s neurological behavior. Mom changed his diet and he began taking a natural whole food source that was known for eliminating one’s body of toxic substances (more about this in a future article). She was more than shocked at the difference a change in diet and supplements can make!
Mom decided to make a video of what her hair looked like, prior to starting a new shampoo product along with taking a supplement support system for natural hair growth. At first, she was embarrassed. My mother is a reading hostess for Teachertube.com and visits nearby schools in her district to motivate young children to read and to explore the possibilities of their imagination and creativity. After all, it was Albert Einstein that said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
It had been simple for Mom not to worry about her hair, since she wears a big, straw hat to record her reading videos and to visit various schools in her district. She has a number of fans and I’m sure when she made her hair video and removed her hat, she got some attention. Her fans are waiting to see the results.
Here I am "Just Chillin," but I wasn't last night as I went LIVE once again to share my knowledge about MONAT Hair Care Products. If you missed my podcast, that's okay...check it out...
It hasn’t been easy trying to select a hair care product that doesn’t have at least one dangerous chemical. So, I considered creating my own homemade shampoo. Years ago, when my grandmother was alive, she created her own shampoo and the bald spot she had on the side of her head began to fill in. I wish I had her recipe.
So, I tried recreating what I thought Grandma used on her hair, but it was a total fiasco. My hair had a greasy-feel to it and I had less curl than I had before. My mother suggested that perhaps the ingredients Grandma used were no longer sold on the market.
Since I couldn’t recreate what Grandma had used, maybe I could use something else homemade such as a hair mask. The one I decided to try, and that’s only because I had the ingredients on hand, was an egg hair mask. All that is needed is one egg and several drops of lemon juice to make this hair mask. As one knows, eggs are full of protein and biotin and both are super important for healthy hair. One’s hair is mainly contains the protein, “keratin.” Many hair supplements contain biotin and by adding these two vital ingredients, it’s a win-win situation.
In order to make this simple hair mask, crack an egg into a container and then add some drops of lemon. Then whisk the egg. Pour the mixture onto one’s scalp. Next, cover your head with a shower cap of towel and leave it on for 20 minutes. Be sure to rinse it out with cold water and not warm water. After all, you don’t want to cook it! Of course after doing that, hopefully you have a shampoo and conditioner you’re comfortable in using.
Now, I would add that using this hair mask does help, but it’s messy and I don’t like to rinse my hair in cold water! BRRR! So, I stopped using it! In all honesty, I believed I would find the perfect hair care product.
It was Mother who informed me about good nutrition. She has been suffering from hair loss, since she’s gone through menopause. At first, she believed her problem was stress-related and having a poor diet. Now, she is correct about this, since a poor diet would affect one’s scalp and hair growth.
There are a number of hair care supplements online, such as Nutrafol, Dr. Berg’s, and MONAT supplements. All three do list biotin and collagen. However, all three have something unique in their ingredients. So, for me, unless I start with one and use it for several months and then try the others, it’s hard to know which is the best for me.
My mother has been using Dr. Berg’s hair care supplement. She’s on her second bottle and has not been able to form an opinion at this time.
As for her selection in a shampoo, she’s reading the label of ingredients, which is very time consuming; since there are so many ingredients listed! She very skeptical as to what goes on her scalp and I don’t blame her! Mother has very thin hair and is afraid of losing more.
I guess one could say I’m her guinea pig. I believe I’ve found the answer to my own hair care dilemma. I did get my curl back. Yet, what works for me as someone who has not been through menopause, may not work for her. After all, I’m not experiencing hair loss.
Only time will tell! Mother has agreed to try a shampoo that I recommend for her as being an independent hair care and beauty consultant.
